Diaby looking to repay Wenger

5 April 2012 21:09

Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby says he is looking to repay manager Arsene Wenger for the faith he has shown in him.

Diaby has only played on three occasions for Arsenal this season but Wenger believes he can still be a 'massive' player for the club.

The midfielder is no stranger to injury and has suffered several setbacks since joining the north London club in 2006.

Diaby, however, is determined to get through his rehabilitation from serious ankle problems and return to the field again.

"I just need to carry on and stay focused every day in my rehabilitation," Diaby said.

"I feel in a good way now.

"Football itself has motivated me because it's the thing that I love. There is also my family and team-mates, manager, medical staff - they have all helped me."

Along with paying tribute to his family and those assisting his return to fitness behind the scenes, the 25-year-old also singled out Wenger.

"It is a big motivation for me that the boss said about me. I want to be thankful to him and show him that he is right," he said.
